I took a few days off of work to make a solo driving trip following the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
Left home in Raleigh and started heading up some backroads into Virginia. Watched the sun set in the northern end of Shenandoah NP before I settled into a hotel in Front Royal.
Spent the day traversing Shenandoah NP with a couple stops for some light hiking. Found a hotel in Waynesboro, and a nice German restaurant nearby for dinner.
Started the Blue Ridge Parkway drive at the north end where it turns into Shenandoah's Skyline Drive. Spent the day driving. It was very relaxing, but I should have allowed an extra night in the middle to spend more time on stops and hiking. Stopped in Fancy Gap area for the night.
Left the hotel and rejoined the Parkway in Fancy Gap. Drove the last little bit into NC, then left the Parkway. Stopped in Stone Mt SP, Pilot Mt SP, and Hanging Rock SP along the way back home.
