Massachusetts and Maine

Trip that I took to visit friends in the New England area, November 2006.

People I Visited

I went up to New England to see my friend Karen who lives outside Worchester, Mass, and to meet my gaming friends Ruth, Doug, Chrissy, and Jim up in Maine. These are the people pics, from various places.

Karen's Place

I stayed Fri-Sun nights at Karen's place in Northboro, Mass. She has quite a collection of bonsai plants.

New England Aquarium

On Saturday we braved the highways, subway and busses to get to the New England Aquarium in downtown Boston. I took more videos of this area than stills. My video album can be viewed on YouTube.

Sights in Boston

We left the aquarium around 4pm, which is not long before sunset in Boston at that time of the year. We walked to dinner and a little light shopping and sightseeing before catching the transportation back to Karen's place.

Higgins Armory Museum

On Sunday, Karen and I headed over to Worchester to visit the Higgins Armory Museum. Mr. Higgins was a steel manufacturer who collected old armor and developed a museum to display his pieces.

LL Bean Store

On Monday, I drove up to Maine and met the rest of my friends at my hotel in Portland. We started with a visit to Freeport and the huge L.L. Bean store up there. I told them they owed me a moose sighting, so we found a few substitutes in the store.

Maine Maritime Museum

After LL Bean we looked for something to do. My GPS said the Maine Maritime Museum was close, so we went there. Doug works at a shipyard just up the river in Bath, so we caught a few glimpses of that too. The museum is built on the site of an old Schooner shipyard from the late-1800's to early-1900's.
