Landscape Replacement, May 2010

We hired Cary Landscape, Inc to tear out weeds and stumps from the old bushes. They ran drainage from out gutters to the edge of the yard. Then they made a wall and provided lots of new plants for the front and all the way up the back fence on the right side of the yard. Each pair of photos contains the same shot, before and after the update.

Livingroom Tables, Jan 2008

At Christmas last year, Dad took a bunch of measurements off the marble table tops from our livingroom table collection. By the end of January, he brought us a beautiful set of new tables to replace the older cream-yellow style bases that we had. Thanks, Dad!

Master Bath, Jan 2008

We finally painted the master bath after staring at the paint chips on the wall for almost a year. The ceilings were horribly out of reach because of the height and all of the cabinets and things in the way. We added the dragonfly "wallies" to the big empty wall and then put some silk flowers up on the shelf over the shower and toilet room.

Painting the Kitchen, May-June, 2007

Over two weekends we repainted the garage entry area a semi-gloss pale blue, and the rest of the kitchen in a pale yellow. In December, Mom came down and helped us hang the butterfly border at char-rail height in the entry hall. We cut out the butterflies from the leftover border paper and hung those under the bar as well.

Curtains in the Office, Apr 7, 2007

We added some nice, dark blue curtains to the office to block afternoon glare on our computer monitors.

Replace Carpet on Landing, Dec 26, 2006

Over the Christmas holiday my parents helped me replace the heavily soiled carpet at the top of the stairs with a more cat-friendly laminate floor.

Removing the Hedges, Oct 29, 2006

The builder left us with some varieties of hedges that like to grow 6-8 feet tall if left unchecked. I finally got sick of them and cut the front row of them down to the ground. I plan to replace them with a shorter variety of something later.

Kellie's Craft Room, October 2006

When Kellie moved in, we cleaned out the second guest bedroom, painted it a pleasant shade of green, and set the room up as her stamping and scrapbooking studio.

Master Bathroom October 2006

I repainted the toilet room off the master bath a few days after Shelley died. After I met Kellie, we purchased and installed a new cabinet and she decorated it and the walls with a flour-de-lis pattern.

Hurricane Isabel, Sept 18, 2003

Hurricane Isabel passed through NC on Sept 18, 2003. Raleigh was just outside the band of hurricane force winds. Our house took a little damage from the wind and we lost a few small tree limbs, but that was about it.

Painted Power Room 2003, Kitchen Chairs Recovered 2005

A few photos from some older projects. The first is the sun-and-moon themeing added to the powder room on August 17, 2003. The second is recovering the kitchen chairs on February 19, 2005.

Construction Photos 2001

Shelley and I found this house in June of 2001. The plan was already started, but basically none of the interior work had been done. Shelley had to go to training in Oklahoma City during most of the construction, so I would visit the site with my camera and send her updated photos.
